Dear Colleagues and Friends:
It is a great honor for me and at the same time a reason of joy to welcome you all to Argentina, and particularly to our dear city of Buenos Aires.
For the first time in the more than 100 years of history of the Olympic Movement in Argentina, the IOC Session will take place in our country. We were deeply honored at the IOC Session held in Vancouver, Canada, in January 2010, to be selected as the host city for this major event, and since then we have been working relentlessly to make your stay a memorable one.
For us and for the Olympic Family at large, this is a particularly important Session. In addition to the usual decisions on the future of the Olympic Movement, this Session is tasked with the election of the host city for the 2020 Olympic Games, as well as the election of the new IOC President, who will face the major challenge to continue the impeccable job done by Jacques Rogge over the past years.
I would also like to especially welcome the delegations of Istanbul, Tokyo and Madrid, three amazing cities that will compete for the formidable challenge to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. We appreciate the professionalism and effort required to prepare the bids of the candidate cities, and we wish the three of them much success.
The Argentine Olympic Committee, the Buenos Aires City Government, our staff, and the volunteer corps, are all working hard to make this experience truly enjoyable for all.
Buenos Aires looks forward to greeting you with open arms.
All the best to all of you.
President of the Organising Committee of the 125th IOC Session
